Newbie, would like to see firsthand

I have not taken lessons yet and before I invest my time an money I would like to see kite boarders from the beach in action. However, I don't want to drive all the way to UL when I am not sure that some kite boarders will be on the water. Can someone let me know a good time to go? Maybe this Saturday or Memorial Day?

Good Question

A good place to check is the Daily wind forecast by Craig Goudie. Read the forecast the morning that you wish to go. If the forecast looks good, you can be sure that riders will be there. Sometimes, we have to wait for wind, so you may have the opportunity to ask questions and meet the local crew.
