Looked at the bleak forecast and didn't think DC would go. But WOW was Sundance up for a while there. At 1215 I saw caps and bolted. Shortly thereafter I ran into the eternal optimist William Bordy. Think I was on the water by one or so and was beat senseless an hour ish later. REALLY good wind, and hot too. Eventually I was suckered into doing tricks for a sexy lady in the water. Billy's ride seemed like a funny car out there - just hauling ass upwind. I suspect he made it pretty close to the dam. I know I've been out there at least 20 times and wondered if it's my last day of kiting, but somehow the ball just keeps rolling. Every one of these days is a gift. Use them while you have them!

Definitely agree about Billy and his race board! I was screaming to windward (or so I thought) when I noticed a green kite headed STRAIGHT to windward (yes, I know that's physically impossible, but it's sure what it looked like). Billy and his race board were on the other end of the kite lines. Don't think he made it all the way to the dam, but he certainly covered a lot of ground (well, water actually ) as he schooled the poleboard contingent (George, Dave and me) in the art of going fast on the water. Humbling!

Interesting to hear what Chis and Jim had to say about the other end of DC as far as the wind around Island Beach vs Sailboat Beach by the Dam. Duane K, Grant Jr and I arrived at SBB about the same time (12:15) and rigged 7.5s. Grant Jr rigged so fast he was on the water and ripping before DK and I had even started to rig. He had about 25 minutes of good wind and then the holes started just as DK and I hit the water. There were a few round trip rides to the other side and back powered up but mostly we just shot the puffs until 3:00 pm when it completely shut down. Still fun but wish we`d gotten more rides. Sound like you guys had better wind! BTW, Duane broke his 460 mast so if anyone has an extra one their willing to part with let him know.

What a fun day, on the north end of DC, I felt a huge difference in wind between the N and S sides yesterday, I ventured up to the dam from BWB and around rainbow bays south end the wind really started to break down, what's started as a lap to the dam ended at rainbow because I thought the wind was so much weaker from there south
all the sailors at IB seeemed powered with lots of fast planes back and forth.
I had a great time sailing in the notch were the wind seemed best.
Thanks to Jim, George, and Dave for the company, I think we got the best wind at IB.
Hopefully it will go again today!
