9/30, Sulfur, 6.0/4.7, 86L/76L
Grants wasn’t nearly as windy as when I headed out yesterday but 23 looked pretty good. I packed and was ready to go when I noticed Evanston was already at 23 also. Wow, a chance to get out of the Grants corral (the bathtub as some call it). Sulfur was already 57 when I got there at 10:30 and eventually went to 64. I was actually sweating in the steamer. The wind was already 18-21 when I started, perfect for screaming reaches on the 6.0 and iSonic. It was nice to have enough room to get the little speedster up to wild speeds and hold them for a while. The wind was SW making for some very nice waves and flatwater in the lee of the island. After 1.5 hours of ripping I got a windmeter reading of 23-35 and rigged down to the 4.7. I had some more sweet rides with some wild gusts picking me up occasionally. The wind finally turned west and started having a combination of higher peaks and more lulls. And the waves turned into horrid chop. My body was toast by then anyway so I cut out at 3:00. Three 4.7 sesh’s in the last 7 days; not a bad way to end September. Eric had arrived by the time quit. He went across the lake a few times totally lit on his 5.2 and was rigging down as I left.
