As usual when the wind is north at Rush, it was southwest and puffy at DC. I hesitated even to go down to the lake because I figured Island Beach would be a zoo, and the wind just wasn't good enough to justify the hassle. But then I suddenly remembered that, hey, there are other launches on DC, and I've never seen much of a crowd, for instance, at sailboat beach (not, at least, since the 1979 Windsurfer North American Championships). So down I went . Island Beach, amazingly enough, didn't appear all that crowded as I drove by; there was even an open parking space in Dubock Circle. Rainbow also looked relatively uncrowded, and SSB had plenty of parking and space on the grass to rig. By the time I got there, the wind was starting to back off, so once again, biggest turned out to be the call.

In contrast the situation at Rush, the water level in DC continues to rise; it's now about half way up the small concrete ramps. A rising water level brings floating debris, but so far I haven't seen (or hit) anything too large. Water temp is a balmy 62.

a buddy and i were messing around at jordanelle saturday around 1:30-3:30. winds were 4-8 knots. it worked well enough to get my 12m V4 launched and body drag around a little bit. no board yet though. by the time we got my buddies kite rigged, the wind completely died off... oh well, we accomplished our goal- rig and fly on our own without complication or injury.
