Grants, 8/25, 7.0/86L, 5.2/109L
By 6am Mike and I were moaning that it had died back and the Mesonet looked strange with east winds at the airport. We both figured it would be a sure bet we wouldn’t sail if we didn’t get to the lake. When we got to Grants about 8:00 it was back to 5.7 winds but then they died back as soon as we hit the water. Within 40 minutes I had 2 sails and 3 boards rigged and still wasn’t doing very well. A little after 9:00 it came roaring back in. Mike stuck with his 5.2 and his floaty Freeride board (109L?). I finally settled on the 7.0/86L raceboard (iSonic) combo; it just wasn’t filled in enough on the west side to use both 6.0 and 86L. The big sail provided plenty of horsepower for wild rides until it started dropping about 11:30. As usual the best wind was on the east side. Nice to get another sesh on a small board. Great morning.
