5/11, Grants, 6.0/7.0, 86L/115L
There was just enough pinkish-purple on the NOAA map to believe it would be 8.5 until 10:00. That was confirmed at 6:30 when it was 16 mph(converts to 12mpg waterside). But the High must have moved further SE than they expected and I was pretty surprised when I was able to rig the 7.0/115L and be on the water ripping by 7:45. Blown off by 8:30 and rigged the 6.0/86L. By then it was 23g25 on the Mesonet. Had tons of wild rides, putting the 7.0 on the 86L towards the end for some wild speed rides. Had to quit at noon to head for an appointment and the lake was still covered with whitecaps. It seemed more like the old Grants, continuing to blow to noon like it used to before the Salt Lake level dropped drastically. All the wind bodes well for tomorrow if I have anything left. Great to have the Tooele county wind meters back on line. Tons of birds made for lots of entertainment, although I didn’t see the fish eagles again. Anyone know what the little birds are that fly around like F16’s in a dogfight? The rain has really raised the lake although it is far from full. The streams at both ends are flowing strong.
