DC started going off a little after noon. Initially a bit off-and-on, complicating rigging decisions. George opted for his 7.5, I went with my 7.0, and Judy rigged her 6.0. Then the wind started filling back in, and it quickly became apparent that we had all rigged too large. I hung on for about 40 exhausting minutes while George and Judy came in to rig down. Toward the end of my brief session the gusts started getting shorter and more intense. Rig down or go home? I chose the latter, as did Judy a short time later. George put his 5.7 on his small board and was last seen outbound on a screaming reach.

Same happened to the kiters... me and most others started on 12m or so around 1pm. By the time the fill in happened, most were over powered and sized down to 8m-10m. Pretty fun day at DC when its 9m :))) A bit gusty and shifty, but seems like that's the norm in windier days up there.
