Yuba was a grab bag of wind... I took monday and tuesday off work (kind of, still worked for a couple hours a day from cell phone) to indulge in the Yuba lifestyle... Sand, Wind, heat, critters, human critters, blue green water, absolute grab bag of wind...
In the moonlight, I sailed a 6.7 one night... With the full moon, you can see everthing around you... I put a water proof light on the tip of the mast... When the sail goes into the water, if you push the sail down, it dives into the dark depths... A little eerie, but that's the fun of it... Anyway, more zen than eerie... If you've never sailed the night wind, it is the most constant wind you'll ever sail.
Monday was relatively mellow 6.7 sailing on and off through out the day, only a few other campers... Tuesday on the other hand left me now with sore traps, lats, legs, arms, head etc... What a wild day of sailing... Just kept switching between rigs more than usual... Josh S. came down and at one time had to sit on the rigs on shore that were strapped down to the ground already! A 60 MPH 10 minute puff showed us what real SMOKE on the water is! But being on North beach no sand came with it.
North beach is perfect right now. Remember that if Yuba is 82% full, north beach is perfect size... But, as always, Yuba is for the times you feel you just want to go somewhere that's relatively close, warm, nice water, sandy, and can relax and camp... During the week is actually really nice... The weekends are bad, but the nice thing is that when it really blows, all the meerkats go into their dens for shelter and watch the skeeters (us) on the water...
