Sailed from 1230 to 1430 on some up and down winds. On a plane about 1/3 of the time. Just nice to be on the water, which has really warmed up. For all the dust and blow in the SL valley, I thought there would be stronger winds at the SBB. With winds right out of the south the hills must have chopped the hoped for westerly component.

Usually "the early bird gets the worm" at DC, i.e. the wind is strongest and steadiest shortly after it comes up. Not yesterday! It just kept increasing, and while never exactly steady, it did seem to get a bit steadiER as the afternoon and evening progressed. It didn't hit its peak until 9 PM, backed off until 3 AM, and then started building again. Gusting into the low 20's right now.
