Sailed 10:30 to 12:00 in some perfect 7.0 winds. Water temperature has dropped to 40 degrees, same as the air temperature when I started (was balmy 47 when I quit). Pretty brutal. Thankfully I didn’t fall as I figured I was done as soon as I got some water in my gloves. It really surprised me when the clouds cleared off at 10:00 just as I started rigging; made me feel a bit warmer. The lake appears to be at least 10’ further up the shore since a week ago. Feel sorry for the poor domestic duck floating around; doesn’t he should have already flown south. Since I had to wear gloves, Olympic beanie skull cap, and down ski coat while rigging maybe it is time to start the ski season.

7.0 wind at DC also, but it was neither perfect nor prolonged. After a cold but clear morning, the sky clouded over and the wind picked up. By 1 there were occasional gusts into the mid 20s. Lots of slogging, a few good rides. Definitely "ice cream headache" weather"; air about 40, water about 50:-( I was very thankful for a drysuit and neoprene mittens. On the plus side, the water level continues to come up.

Hi Jim, hadn't seen you post for a while and thought maybe you quit for the year. It is definitely brain freeze time. I am still using a steamer instead of a drysuit so I try not to fall.
