6-24 Lincoln Beach (20m, 150cm board)
Lots of 15ish bow kites on the water when I arrived. From my experience on Thursday I worried that Marty was on his 15m and his Glide which is where I wasn't making it on my 20m and 180cm board but I decided to give it a go (lucky for me Marty was on his smaller board). Just right on my 20m and 150cm board (I would guess a steady 12mph) for about 40 minutes then the wind dropped so I headed in for my big board. When I saw Marty struggling with his Glide (which he came in and got when the wind dropped) I figured I was done and should count my blessings to have not ended up in the weeds. Three of our fellow kiters weren't quite so lucky.
Looking at PVU this morning confirms what I have been wondering and that is that I think Lincoln does not pick up the NW as well as SSB. PVU was showing lots of 14s which I normally figure means I’m either way overpowered on my 20m or can get on my smaller kites like my beloved 12m. I used to figure that SSB was 1 or 2 mph higher than PVU and it looks to me like Lincoln is about 1 to 2 mph lower. That is a pretty big hit on power and kite size if we are actually riding 4 mph less than if we were at SSB. I feel the need to check out SSB again and see if we can squeeze in a launching spot.
