The trees started swaying about 1, and by the time I got down to the launch, there were a few whitecaps on the far shore. Not all that impressed, I rigged my 8.5. The first reach out revealed that to have been a mistake. Rigged my 7.0 full and went back out. A couple of crossings and came back to pull maximum downhaul. Finally had it right - for about 15 minutes, after which the wind started rapidly backing off. Still, a day that greatly exceeded my expectations. Lots of weeds, as Duane pointed out. A weed fin is really a necessity for anyone who wants to sail out of the Charleston launch.
