11/27/17, Grants, 5.2/86L
When I woke up at 6:00 it looked like the wind was swinging to the west but, when it got a south reading, I took off for the lake. NOAA had moved the fronts arrival from 10:00 to 2:00 but they shouldn’t have as it arrived at 11:00. 25G30’s led me to the 5.2/86L and even that was overpowered somewhere almost every ride across the lake. Some really wild rides to end the season. About 10:30 it got a little funky so I threw the 5.2 on the 112L but that only lasted another 15 minutes before the lake went flat. Then, before I could even get stuff hauled to the car the north came ripping in and flipped my rig over on shore. +40 mph gusts made for a difficult derig. I considered sailing the wild winds which had covered the lake with whitecaps but the temperature dropped 20 degrees fast and, thankfully, I managed to get packed before the rain started, Greg got a couple of good sesh’s on his 4.7 foil rig. Sweet sesh. Off to eye surgery Thursday so I am done until the Spring Mead/ Mojave run in February.
