Downwinder on Pineview?
The winds picked up in Ogden Valley from the southeast sometime in the late afternoon. I drove around pineview with my father-in-law looking for a launch site. The lake was covered with white caps and small swell. Driving around cemetary point, downed branches could be seen everywhere. I settled for a launch site in the center and north side of cemetary point. As I was setting up the winds seem to be fading but I was in a wind shadow from land. The plan to use the 12m waroo changed to the 16m waroo. Riding on Pineview is fun for me at my level, because I never know where I'm going to end up or how I'm going to get off the lake.
After about 15minutes of riding I crashed my kite on the water (my excuse is that the 16m waroo is so slow I get distracted with my surrounding environment while sining that I accidently crash the kite in a turn). The the kite rolled over downwind?? then It rolled over again while I was pulling here tugging there. The the leading edge was facing me down on the water trailing side up and downwind with lines crossed and wrapped over. Figured game over but decided to wait. I read somewhere on a forum that the waroos can magically untangle themselves and relaunch. I was about the start realling it up and begin a long swim when the kite slowly turned around, untangled it self, moved into a launch position and it was off. This happened on another occasion alittle while later. Pretty cool. Winds were gusty but the waroo ate it up.
After an hours worth of riding, I ended up at the north side of the lake where the water comes up to hwy 39 at the stake center/church.
After folding up the kite, the winds completely died as the sun set behind the mountains. 10 minutes later, my ride arrived.
