Just another dawn patrol at Grantsville with +20 mph winds. Got there at 7:20 with John Freed thinking about rigging a 6.7 based on the wind on the west side of the lake. But the wind was increasing and he ended up rigging a 5.7 and I rigged the 6.0 and we both went out on our 85L boards for a great morning session. It was definitely far windier on the east half of the lake and filled in fast on the west after 8:00. The only downside was the blinding sun. I need to get some polarized sunglasses. Josh and another sailor showed up to share some great rides. As usual, it seemed to die off at 10:15. But then, the highest wind lines of the morning came through interspersed with lulls with almost no wind. It almost suckered me back into the wetsuit. But I was determined to get to the work desk by noon. I came back from the Gorge a little down, as usual, thinking it would be a least September, if then, before we would get some small gear days. Sat., Mon. and Tue. have raised my spirits.

Two mornings in a row is almost too much to ask for in Utah. It was another great day at Grants. It was great to have filled in conditions for most of the session. I haven't been on a small board for longer than I can remember. The free formula and hypersonic just don't jibe the same way.You were right not to get lullled by the gusts they were big but very short. It may have been a good afternoon session. As I was leaving, the south winds as predicted seemed to be filling in more. Got back to Charleston to see George and Judy ripping it at DC. Hoped to get two for two but by time I got rigged the DC hole factor took over with more holes than wind.
