Epic session at SSB today. Many of regulars and newbies out today. Looked like the big dark cloud would shut it down. But it pushed through and cranked with killer wind and a nice swell. Here is a link to some pictures I took mostly of Jake and Jason on his surfboard. Also an added bonus while taking pictures I was able to steel a few shots from some chicks photo session on the beach. She has no idea how close she came to becoming a Best kiteboard girl. I tried to line her up with a kite in the background, but it was to hard. Or was it just me?

Thanks for the photos yet again. You are doing a great job of documenting our utah windriders lifestyle.

I was suprised at the amount of newbys that were at ULSSB last night.
I would think the side shore winds at Lincoln Beach,
would be much easier/safer way to learn,
compared to the onshore, tree eating scene at ULSSB.

What do you think?

i agree. saturday was my first time at ULSSB. i found it harder to learn there. i probably need a few more days at lincoln before i try SSB again. the swell was something i wasn't used to, and the onshore winds made things difficult. you just didn't have much time to try things out before you had to walk back upwind again. it was also crowded, well more crowded than i'm used to. it was a learning experience though. and at least my kite wasn't the one in the trees.... i hope i wasn't in the way too much out there.

is it always onshore when it's north at SSB, or was it just west enough saturday to turn it more onshore? any help on this one would be appreciated.

I don't at all mind having people learn at SSB. However, alot of more experienced riders tend to ride close to shore. I don't understand this. I prefer to get upwind and give some distance to the shore. The one thing I would definately recommend is having someone help you launch in the water. Launching on the beach in onshore wind while learning is scary, and gives no room for error. I am always willing to launch in the water. If Jake is in the way we'll shoo him off or throw wet sand at him.

I totally agree with you Jason with me getting to close to shore. If I get to close to someone and scared the shit out of them, I derserve to be shoo at. If I'm in the Newbie way I should be going around. They have the right away because they are learning. If someone want to stay downwind from me, I will stay upwind from them. If someone want to stay upwind from me, I will go downwind from them. I would rather give the person the flexiblty when they are learning or ready to do their moves. It fun to get close with the bros and watch their stoke expression. I don't know if any you guys notice yourself how you look when you ride. I would see total having the greatest ride of their live or the biggest smile on their face or drooling all over their face with expression how much fun it is to be kiting. I wouldn't name the people who were drooling. I'm one of them because I forget that I'm drooling. I figure the water would wash it off for me since I crash 50% of the time.


SO, NEWBIE HAVE FUN AND START WAY UPWIND TO GIVE YOURSELF MORE ROOM FOR ERROR. See you out in the lake

you might of caught me drooling at rush this spring on my downwinders but who can tell with that water. first real ride was at rush this spring, and man, what a rush.
