me and Jason were at a pool party until 5, checking in to see when the north would be good for SSB and PBHarbor. when it started sounding good, and we didn't want any more sugarhouse bbq, we hit the road, jason first. the thunderheads were clearing from north to south so i followed. provo was reporting 12-17. it was sunny at 6 when i got to the marina. 1 sailor in the forebay and 2 on the outside, (Josh and someone else). good to see people on top of it already.

i rigged my light wind slalom gear on the grass and tossed it in the river. although my formula gear is a ton of fun, (last wed at dc sbb), it's a pleasure to ride the smaller stuff. that happens enough at provo that my formula board gets left home a lot of the time, something that never happens at DC. right away i knew it was going to be good because even in the lee of the jetty, the trees and the fishermen there was enough juice to push me out of the river mouth, onto the lake and into utah's smoothest wind. after that it was straight upwind and in 2 tacks i was off the head of the jetty, sailing with Josh and a Neil Pryde sailor.

as usual the best wind was 300 or more yards offshore, you could tell because Josh was out there getting it. so that's where i went and sailed non stop in board shorts and no rash guard until the sun dropped behind the western mountains. nice swell, nice wind textured water, nice temps and planing the entire time. when the shadows hit the water i took one last long tack out, turned and shot back in. it's easier if you have good speed when punch down through the harbor mouth. i caught up with Josh and we coasted through the bay and marina back to the boat ramp to walk out. the ramp is a little slippery but obviously no rocks or anything. derigged on a remaining patch of grass. tres bien.

today may be a repeat. it'll almost certainly be north but the velocities remain to be seen. it could start as early as 2 or as late as 6. when bluffdale and provo airport are 12-14ish and there are no thunderheads, as there are not supposed to be, i'll be there. Dimitri, Sarah ?

I'll try out that Provo Harbourage. Probably get there by 1:00. See ya then. My cell: 201-1284. I'll give Sarah a call, too.

Dubbock -- see if you can get Southwick out of the highlands to join us, eh?

We probably have a few hours to go. Still south at the airport and bluffdale. 1pm is optimistic. As for the 6.2 winds at Saratoga yesterday, that was probably earlier when provo airport was reading 16-20mph and i was still hanging by the pool waiting for more complete clearing. I wonder how late they had wind there.
