Yes. Grantsville is worth the trip. Arrived at 10:00 with George W, Rick H. and Josh S. all downsizing. The 5.7 on the small board was perfect, although Josh and Rick were on 5.2's. Steady wind until 12:30. Yes the water is down, but how many Utah sailors don't need jib practice in a good wind.

Ok, guys I see a bunch of posts about heading out to Grantsville. Its a morning thing. Get up at 6am jump in your prepacked car and get out there early. If you wait until the wind meter postings look good and then make your decision it is too late. Takes some faith in the forecast.

I was on the water by 7:30 with a 6.3 which was a little big but since I put a hole in my 5.8 that had to do. Used the 6.3 on a 100 liter board until my arms couldn't take it. Rigged my 5.2 for some really wild rides. Watched George Ward break his mast on his 5.6. The wind meter recorded speeds into the low 30s. The lake actually had chop on it.

Grantsville makes you feel like a jibing rockstar. Rick H and I used his GPS with our bigger sails to see how fast we could go. We both neared 30 but couldn't break it, but was very good speed runs for the type of boards we were using. I am guessing a light skinny slalom board could get to 35 mph. I am sure that is still 5-7mph slower the Ken O. I realized that Max R's record of 33 is screaming fast. AND HE IS 80!

Everyone get up late tomorrow because I want the lake to myself!
