Alberto called at about 9 asking for my guess as to what the wind was likely to do. I told him that the flow was out of the North and that DC would probably either not blow at all or else be ridiculously gusty, but that UL or J-Bay might be worth a try. Angela and I rode our bikes into Heber. On our way back, we noticed a headwind building. DC was whitecapping and looked unusually filled in. George Ward and I both rigged 6.6s and were well powered from about 3 to 5, with almost no schlogging or slams. Best wind all week! And so, another cherished belief (that DC is even gustier than usual when the wind is from the North along the Wasatch Front) bits the dust.

I have had good DC sessions in past years when the push was north and posted that there must be some kind of eddy that comes up Provo Canyon on those days. It's good stuff.

I, too, subscribe to the eddy theory, but in my experience, the eddies are usually pretty swirly. But not yesterday. Interestingly, when I checked the J-Bay voyeur-cam after I got home, the wind up there wasn't very strong, but had clearly been out of the North.
