The isobars were stacked up on the Wyoming/Utah border so it looked promising. From 7:30 when I arrived till I pulled out just after 10:00 it was wound up 7.5 with only 30 seconds of occasional slog out of the jibes. Most were white-knuckled. Had to switch fins down from 50 cm to 35 cm. Could have been on a 6.5. Only Jim (?) and I on the water. Jim rippin' it up as I drove away from a lake full of whitecaps. Undocking the trailer in 20 minutes. As Windtracks mag used to say, "It's always best in your own backyard!"

Whoh! Whatever is happening today, that is a nice snag Dimitri! All this east... We have an east infection! Oh that's nasty I'm sorry... But seriously this is some crazy wind... I don't think I've ever seen this strong of an east over the area... I didn't even think of Little Dell this morning... So good on ya for calling that!

Excellent effort. You were greatly rewarded. Tomorrow there might be an infestation of pesky kiters to join you. Hope that doesn't ruin your experience.

probably way too gusty for most kiters, and that's from someone who sails gusts regularly. but you never know.
which site did you use to look at the pressures? my house sits at the mouth of parleys so i often know whats up anyway.

my forecast shows a good gradient late tonight, disorganized by 6 am, then re-established by 9 am. sounds like a crap shoot. where the heck is my full wet suit anyway?

Bring on the tea baggers. Plenty of room. Be sure to wear the full wet suits as per the regs there. I wouldn't expect it to be near as windy, but it's one of those things you can't call until that morning. We'll have to see if those isobars stay stacked, which would be unusual. Here's hopin'! Oh, by the way, the water's pretty warm!
Carl, I was looking at the Surface Pressure map that's upper left and prominent on the Weather page. Then at the forecast. Funny thing is JD sent me a "Oh, never mind." excerpt from the NWS Discussion page where they said it wasn't going to be so strong this AM because the gradiant wasn't as great or something. They missed it, though, happily for me and Jim. I wish we had something smaller scale. The Great Basin mesonet used to have isobars. Need to send a note to the NWS and see if they could turn that on again.
That east wind thing is making me wonder where else might be sail(kite)able on an east...? East Reservoir? Morgan reservoir? Somebody should take a look at a topo map and see what else might be sitting on the Wasatch divide that we don't normally think about. I saw Sulfer was even east today for a while.

East wind is one of the few times Rockport goes off.
