Arrived at 2 PM. Saw white caps at the north end of the lake, but by the time I got to Sailboat Beach there was just a mild breeze. I noticed a sailor go out after 10-15 minutes. I had a hard time deciding between a 20 and a 16, but based on Craig's strong forecast I chose the 16. It was the perfect size. Shared the water with the windsurfer. Another windsurfer came up from Island Beach. I wanted to see if I could go upwind better on a kite due to the shorter reaches, but one whiff of me and he was gone screaming downwind to Island. I did keep my distance, but I recognize that kiters are to windsurfers what snowboarders are to skiers. We are viewed as being out of control most of the time. All in all, it was a gorgeous afternoon.

I wasn't really worried about your being out of control; I appreciated the room you gave me when we passed each other, even when you actually had right of way. The real reason I headed back to the Island was that I was pretty maxed out on my 7.2m, and the wind seemed to be getting stronger. I just wanted to get back while I still could. See you on the snow at Strawberry this winter!

Jim,

It looked to me like you were having a good session. I appreciated watching your smooth jibes. Yesterday, may have been the last warm day at DC. Glad to see you out on the water and Yes, I look forward to seeing you soon at Strawberry!
