Cabinsite, Lake Mohave, HS105/ 6.0 retro, Almost! thurs 4/12
Arrive to a nice S/SW wind and rig my 6.0 and HS 105 for a mellow day. I drive the car to the "official" parking lot and head back to the board and the wife says, "hey the wind direction changed". Oh yea, better flip the sail around. Within 5 minutes, there are flying coolers, canopies, beach chairs, kids, sand, dirt, rocks. Only the jet skis stay on the ground as a massive north wind hits. I try to hold down my gear behind a dumpster until the dumpster starts looking like it will launch. Finally I get the rig behind a cliff inside a cove to allow me to break down the rig. Convincing myself that I would have sailed if I had a 2.0 and a whole lot more skill, I head for the hot shower. Why not, the sand is embedded in my skin. As I arrive, a guy is locking the door, "sorry the wind knocked out the power".
