Decided to try D Ridge. I hadn't been up that way in many years. It was cool going someplace different. I parked at the campground and started down (what I found out later) the right trail, but it was going downhill and I figured I needed to be going uphill so I followed a trail through the campground and up into the trees until I figured it was the wrong way. I backtracked for a bit then followed some sled tracks and it led me to the right spot. It was cloudy at first but the clouds blew over and it was a glorious sunny afternoon. The sky was dark blue and there was a daytime moon. There's a beautiful view of the high Uinta peaks and a long view down towards Kamas. The four inches of new snow really helped the conditions. I'm glad I went. Thanks Matt for posting directions.

Arghhh. I was looking for anyone to go with today.... But was timid about going alone! GLad you enjoyed yourself!!!

I almost turned off and headed up there but decided to head to Skyline instead. Skyline was a bit better than I expected but I need to check out the ridge.

Rachel and I went up there and snowshoed in to check it out. You don't really need snowshoes right now if you follow the snow packed road. It's more like a 30-45 minute hike to the spot unless you're really humping it though (at least to ride on a north wind). Unfortunately we left late and didn't have time to kite but the snow was in great shape with some pretty nice powder. Around the corner from the ridge just past the summit on the other side of the road it looks like there'd be good riding on other wind directions assuming the wind wasn't too swirly from surrounding hills and trees. It was cool just to venture into new territory. FYI - It's about an hour and 15 minute drive from Salt Lake.

This area is Silver Meadows.
Matt and I have kited east winds,
Where you can see from the road,

and north winds just over the ridge.
