With a warm and windy forecast for the weekend, we packed the gear and headed South to Sand Hollow Reservoir. Sailed mostly powered for 1 1/2 hrs Saturday afternoon, air temp ~ 70 F, H20 ~ 55 F, water level is very high. Drove back Sunday through scenic Colorado City, AZ and saw some real live Polygamists on our way to Coral Pink Sand Dunes. What an adventure !

Layne,

Good report on Sand Hollow, sounds like the water is really warming up there. We drove through Colorado City a couple weeks ago and couldn't believe all the activity and construction going on. Many, multi-gabled new homes under construction and commercial buildings being built. I guess that polygamy thing is really working out for them. Whit

Sand Hollow looks awesome. Any advice on weather trends or forcasts to look for to optimize the chances of finding good wind at Sand Hollow.

thanks, Les

Depending on who you talk to SandHollow either rocks or sucks! North winds/fronts get in there. Paul and Angie Bradshaw lived in Hurricane for two years and swear it doesn't blow. Other UWA members have gotten great wind there.

Either way its a stunning lake, red rocks, red sand, new camping on the hill, lots of room. Email me for pics
