4/27 SSB
Went to South Sandy with Tyler and Jess for some wicked riding this afternoon. I started on 13.5 with Jess on 11.5. The 13 was lit up with some full extended arm reaches. Jess went in after 30 or so minutes because she was overpowered and chilly. A few minutes after that I decided to show off for her and pulled the trigger right in front of the launch zone, but a few hundred feet upwind. That very moment was when the wind turned on. At first I was thinking about how cool my air must look, as I floated without descent over the water, but that thought faded when I realized that the biggest jump I had ever done was about to land me on the sand. Down send the kite, land in a few inches of water and dig my heel side hard so that most of my momentum is gone when I jump out of the straps and somehow end up on my feet with the kite straight above me. The only hard part was trying to act like I did it all on purpose.
I went back out on the 11 for a while while Tyler rode 9 with a surf board. There were some insane tacks of power, and some that felt perfect. It was a great time.
On a sad note, SSB is in the worst shape I've seen it. Jess and I spent 45 minutes after the session cleaning up glass, and nails, and metal, and logs, and remnants of burned couches, etc. And made a dent in the appearance, but it is unfortunately not a safe place be without shoes, or to place kites. Well keep working on it.
See everyone soon.
