any beach left at ssb water at utah lake has come up a ton???

I have been speaking with Ty Hunter, the manager of the Utah Lake State Park... I have been talking to him about putting some of these sandbags that will be available over the next month between the rocks on the North jetty's north facing side at Provo boat harbor... He told me that the Army Corp of Engineers which is in charge of these types of changes dosen't really like anymore sand to go into the lake... So, sandbags will be tough to pull off... However, we have talked about tiny rocks between the big rocks in two different locations on that jetty... I also informed him of a place called "The Event Site" in Hood River, OR ... Gave him a website to see it to get some IDEAS for the Provo Marina... ::)))... Short story long.. I asked him how high he thinks that Utah lake will get... Jokingly I said "It'll fill up won't it?!"... And quite seriously he answered "Yeah, I think it will"... "Or maybe be a half a foot from there!"... Anyway, he is also going to put in for an access ramp on the north face of the north jetty. This would be more a benefit for windsurfers that kiters... Anyway, looks like the water is going to be burrying SSB... But that's not a bad thing...

Hey Rick, glad to hear that your getting to know the rangers @ULSP. Sand or pea gravel or river rock would be great, just something less dangerous. It could be a great lauch site. Good suggestion for them to look at HR and it's sites. Maryhill would be another good example of river rock that was brought in and seems to stay in place. It seems like if they filled up the big rock with small rock, then you would have a good surface and access to the water.
Maybe when ever any of us visit there we could take along a bag of rock and, and just happen to leave it there amongst the big rocks....Just a thought....SR

what about filling sand bags with pea gravel. that way we can get the stair case and if they break it sinks into the big rocks. No one knows anything different.
Also if we snuck a few in everytime they would not know the difference.

The new jetti uses small rocks on top but those large crappy cement pieces under the water.

Maybe that guy from Shawshank Redemption, Andy Dufrain, man had to dig for that one, can come and empty his pockets each day there! :\
I am with you on that. Actually, Ty Hunter is putting in for a Search and Rescue ramp on the north jetty, north side. I asked him why there are really no NICE grassy banks on Utah lake> He said, "Good question!"... It would be pretty nice to have a grassy or gravelly area just to the right there before you get onto the North Jetty. I told him that we were soon going to be displaced somewhat from the Rocky Point "Crisis" looming. I guess we'll just see. But I did tell him that if the ACofE accepted the adding of peat gravel, like you were saying, Josh, that there would be more than enough FREE LABOR! available to help spread it out!

dude go for the grass that way kiters and windsurfer can have some acsess ssb is going away and pea gravel is hard on all types of gear....

The peat gravel would be to fill in the CREVASSES between the slabs of concrete on the north jetty. However, the or I should say A beach would hopefully be something like that at the Event Site in Hood River. Give it a little time to see if they initiate something on their own from the nudges they've been given. If it looks like nothing is going to happen I will post the email addresses to those people who can help us get something like this at Utah Lake. Strength in numbers...

I haven't seen the Saratoga site yet... Does anybody know where a picture of the Saratoga launch site may be on the internet?

There's not much left...there is a strip big enough to drive up and park and launch a kite then you've got to walk out and head for deeper points North. I estimate the water is about 100Yards closer than the beginning of the season last year. I think it's still rideable though. If the wind hits 20mph it maybe no good as the wind pushes the water up, I think it'll cover the existing beach.
