Sulfur Directions and Info

Never been to Sulfur but want to go this week. Could someone help me with directions and info? There are no directions on the Local Sites page.

I know it's 12 mi. S. of Evanston on hwy 150. From SLC, is it faster to go I-80 to Evanston to hwy 150 S. or go Kamis to Mirror Lake Hwy? Is the exit off hwy 150 marked?

Where's the best place to launch?

Camping: where do you recommend? Do you need reservations? If so, who do you contact?

Family: Is this a family friendly place? Deer Creek = 8 Rush = 2

Shopping: How's the shopping in Evanston? Can I send The Boss there while I windsurf and have her come back with a smile and some money left on the credit card to buy another sail? :D

Thanks,
Kevin.

Take the Mirror Lake Hiway exit off I-80. Go slow since the cops love to give warnings to speeders for the first 4 miles. Look to the left at about mile 9, you'll see a berm/dam and a quick glimpse of water. The sign is marked, Sulphur Resevoir, turn left, a mile down is the launch ramp, bathroom. No camping but on normal weekends you can drive 20 miles into the Uintas and camp.

Flat water, what you see is what wind you get, as in your face! Dust puffs happen in the distance and a westerly can bring lots of wind starting around...1pm each day and it can crank till dark. Thunderstorms and East/North winds are very bad. Amazing wind for mid summer when DC gets too hot.

84 miles fr SLC, much longer around Kamas. Might be some minor shopping in Evanston.

The C Store gave up, we lost: home cooked buffalo burgers, ice cream for the ride home, a clean bathroom. The son lives in the 'store' for now, converted to his house.

I think John Freed and Ken Onstott will retire someday out there and restart the C Store.

Here's the link to the Sulphur Creek page on the Utah Kiteboarding Website.
You'll find directions, a map, and some info on the launch site.
