Speaking of Pow Mow, how to get kite out of tree

Ok, we kiters caused the eye sore, now how to correct it? This kite has been up at Pow Mow since early last winter. I walked a 16 foot ladder out there about a week ago and didnt come close to getting this kite out of the tree. Any ideas for cutting this kite down without taking the tree out. Thought about aid climbing the thing, but my fat arse would most likely down the tree. Looked for telescopic tree pruning mechanisms, no luck. What now?

Cut it down. Trees are a renewable resource.

Les,
I have a telescoping tree saw/pruner you can use.

Pineview may look rideable on Saturday,
I can bring it up then.

Text me, we'll make arrangements, if you want.

It would actually be nice to cut down the whole clump of trees. For that matter clear every tree on top of the ridge!

Todd, I don't know who's kite it was. Early last winter, just heard a guy crashed his kite on the way from the parking lot to the riding area. Its tricky there, so maybe he had some troubles getting through and caught the tree. I heard from someone that he watched them try and retrieve the kite, then abandon it. Looked like it was a nice new kite.

Ok, I've been waiting along time to say this...HA HA! I'm an old skool tree bagger and I'm glad I'm not alone.

Just pull on it, especially if you don't care about the kite. I usually undo half the lines, maybe at the bar, and then pull the other half to get the kite down.

Just to show I'm making fun with and not at the person who abandoned their kite in the tree.... I'll give $300 bucks off a new Ozone for anyone that turns in a tree'd kite this winter. Trees are the enemy and we need to support the lumbering business... and I commend any eco-terrorists that single handedly attacks trees with their own personal gear. Good on ya

Brian

I hung, jumped, engineered, busted, ripped, event broke off 8 feet of adjacent tree top, but could not get this kite down. Auggie, sounds like if you get the ok to cut another tree down, a $300 discount on ozone sounds like a screaming deal. Marty, missed the opportunity to get your trimmer this weekend, let me know if you'll be up at PV, I can tborrow it then.

Take a 3/4 drill with a 6 inch bit and core a hole into the tree. Take some PVC, cap off one end. Fill the open end with appropriate amount of Black powder (like used in muzzle loaders). With a pre drilled hole in the other cap, insert cap onto open end of PVC. Push a 6 inch length of canon fuse into the drilled hole.

Now push this PVC "fire sprinkler" into the hole drilled into the tree.

Lite fuse and run like hell. (That's H E double Hockey sticks for the religious kiters)

Now watch the tree and kite come closer to the ground... ignore the large bang sound.

Officially this is for historical purposes.... since everytime we elect a Republican to office they take away our rights to disarm trees...last I hear the current Bush War helped pass a law that requires humans to walk barefoot thru airports (supporting the spread of athletes foot) yet they have made it a measure of homeland security to stop people from bringing trees down in a traditional manner.

Be aware that if you follow my efficient tree removal practice..loads of heavily armed 'Americans" will great you at your home to confiscate your liveliehood in the name of Homeland Security.

So, just buy a new kite, keep the Sierra Club happy, and lets start calling tree'd kites 'Burning Man Art"

Forget the Black Powder. I just got permission to cut it down. I will be claiming my $300 kite bounty after I cut it down on Saturday.

Looks like if you can get a pickup into that lacation ,you'll be able to place the ladder up in the bed of the truck giving you about maby 3-4 feet of lift there.

With a chainsaw I don't need any additional lift. My Lexus has AWD and I'll park it out of any potential impact zone.
