I think we've found a Pinview Meter!

Maybe others know about this but it, but it seems pretty good and real time. While watching the java applet, the wind changes about every 30 seconds to a minute. It is located at the elementary school in downtown huntsville. Check it out.

Ken,

A year or two ago, I tried to correlate the meter with some good days Marty reported from Pineview (you can search posts for this). Because of where the meter sits, it is sheltered from west wind. If the meter read 10mph, then the wind on the res would be really good, in theory, but it rarely read that high. I gave up on the meter reading because it didnt seem to usefull to me.

North wind may have a good reading, not sheltered by trees, etc.

Let us know if you find this meter usefull.

Indeed. So where do you get that graph page. I couldn't find a "history" link.

Thanks,
Ken

Ken,

here is the link to the old post

Here is a link to the weather link

My mistake, the weather station is a couple blocks east of the school. I thought it was the elementary's. Maybe it changed or maybe its always been that way.

Let me know if it needs to be added to the weather page.

I figure, considering there is nothing better for Pineview at this point, it is nice to have that link. Between it and the real time camera pointing at the flag and chop on the lake, it at least lets you know to "not bother to waste your time driving up there!"

Thanks,
Ken

Ken,

Where's the link to the camera. I'll move it and the wind meter to the weather page.

When you go to the weather page: http://aws.com/single_site.asp?id=HNTFV
There are several links on the bottom. One of them is "Camera Page" The other links are worth clicking on as well for more info.

OK, the Huntsville weather station was already in there, but I've added a direct link to the webcam for a quick click.

There are three more meters up now that we can watch. Maybe as time goes on, more weather buffs will add more home meters.

1. We've talked about this above, the one a couple blocks east of the elementary school.

2. One further east (a few miles) at the UDOT storage shed. Not sure if this will be usefull, havent monitored it yet.

3. One at Eden Acers at the North end of the res. This one will not be usefull for the west wind that we like, but during the winter, might be usefull for getting the north wind that makes pineview alot of fun.

I'm not sure these are worth adding the the weather page, it might not hurt. These are additional to the elementary school. The cool thing about these is you can view the wind history.
