this is kind of random, and possibly a repeat, but my buddy just sent me the attached email. i'm sending in a form email to the senator for comment, but read up on it. anyone heard of this before?

In an effort to continue Utah County's endless trend of urban sprawl there is being proposed a new causway to bifricate Utal Lake. This will provide a toll road bridging Provo and the upcomming developements on the western shore including the sad Saratoga Springs suburban playland. This causeway is in no doubt a developers dream come true.

The sad part is that you have to send in your comments TODAY.

Send them to:
Regulatory Branch Chief Jason Gipson
US Army Corps of Engineers
at jason.a.gipson@usace.army.mil

Include full name and address. Send this to Utah county residence, but your letter will also be helpful even if you live outside of Utah County.

Read below for more info, or look on the web....

If you don't want Utah Lake's already ailing ecosystem damaged
more by a private toll-bridge across it--opening up the west side
of the Lake to more urban sprawl, with increasing auto traffic,
congestion, air and water pollution and loss of natural areas and
wildlife habitat, then please take the time to send an email to the
local head of the US Army Corps of Engineers and tell him that,
as a resident of Utah County, you want the Corps to not permit
this bridge to be built.
Utah Lake must not be harmed by a bridge across it.
A bridge across Utah Lake, and the resulting major development
on the west side of the Lake would most likely:
1) add harmful phosphorus to the Lake which already has excessive levels,
2) increase auto traffic on the west side and driving across to the east
side thereby adding significantly to congestion, air pollution and water
pollution from the runoff of auto residues on the bridge after a rain,
3) harm the effort to protect the endangered June Sucker fish that inhabits
only Utah Lake,
4) interfere with ongoing efforts to restore the health and well-being
of the Lake,
5) lead to the loss of important nearby natural areas, open spaces and
wildlife habitat including that used by migratory birds, and
6) impair the use of the Lake for water sports, hunting and fishing.

POINTS TO INCLUDE in you message:
(Very Important) Any design for a proposed Utah Lake Bridge into the deep
and unstable lake bottom constitutes a "fill" and should be considered under
the full jurisdiction of Section 404 of the Clean Water Act.
(The above means that the Army Crops need to assume responsibility and
should take action to prevent the bridge.)

Utah County is presently out of compliance of the Clean Air Act for PM2.5
from automobiles. The bridge is intended to facilitate massive automobile-
dependent sprawl development that will greatly increase "vehicle miles
traveled" growth for the county. This will exacerbate the PM2.5 problem
and will harm the health of Utah County citizens.
The Corps should declare the proposed Utah Lake Bridge under jurisdiction
and require extensive environmental review.
PLEASE SEND YOUR EMAIL TO THE CORPS OF ENGINEERS ASAP
but for sure by TUESDAY. Thank you!
Your email should be sent to:

VERY IMPORTANT: PLEASE MAKE SURE to include you NAME and FULL ADDRESS
in your email. Your Utah County address will be extra helpful because the bridge is
proposed to be built in Utah County.
