getting started.....again

I currently live in Orem and purchased a windsurfing setup about four years ago. I haven't used it much (only once, when I first got it) and was wondering if there was anyone out there that could give me a hand getting back into it. I windsurfed a little when I was about fourteen, but nothing since then, so I am a beginner. Is there someone I could go riding with and could they also let me know if I need to update some of my equipment? I am excited to get into it!

If you can hook up with Steve, he will be a great help to get you started. I'm just curious what kind of equipment you got. We all know that you can learn on just about anything, but some of the new wide equipment makes it sooooooo much easier, more fun, and faster to learn.
You may want to consider a windsurfing Learn how to video. Thats what I did and learned alot. that way you can watch it and then go practice, and then go watch it again. It's good cause some times you need to hear it over and over, before you get it. Keep posting here, any questions that you have.
If you are interested.....Myself and a few friends are heading to Yuba tomorrow (Friday morning thru Monday) and will be camping on the West beach. Feel free to come and join us. The wind looks similar to last weekend. If so, you are in for a treat. Holy cow... I had probably a top 3 Utah 3 day session for me this weekend. West beach is a good choice. But this wasn't always so; when the lake was low there was more sand on west beach causing the everything getting sandblasted factor on the southwest winds. But the upper shoreline is relatively non-sandy (hard sand and rock). Except not as level as before or as north beach being full as the lake is... If it's windy all weekend, the trees might even be a pretty good choice (shadow and if it's windy any bugs are grounded buggy if not windy). PS I know you know Yuba very well, however, because the lake level is higher than usual and it's probably been a while I thought I'd append this unsolicited advice.

I would be joining, however, broke or slightly broke a rib wakeboarding monday at Yuba (older brother came down with their boat). I should know to stick to the best sport on earth (Windriding)... Have a blast... I am jealous.

If you are a beginner and you don't have a startboard, save yourself many headaches and take YEAR's literally off of your learning curve by purchasing a Startboard (Starboard). You will learn so much faster and enjoy it a lot more. If you are beyond beginner, your gear will be fine, but post what gear it is like Sarah said and we'll try to help.

You can also rent John Dubock's Startboard to give it a try if it's not rented.

PS. When I was in 5th grade by best friend's Dad worked for the US Ski team. BIC donated a bunch of boards to them and his Dad got a few of them (Dufor Wing). That is why I learned to windsurf. His name is Jim Page... No relation probably, but you have a special last name as far as I am concerned!
