2009-12-19 - Lake Creek to Strawberry River to Chicken Creek and back - Snow Report

I took my sled up this morning to check conditions in the areas:

Lake Creek - Snowmobile only access - trail has good coverage and groomed - a dozen or so sleds from that parking lot today. The first Lake Creek summit area has very good coverage - a good base and is ready to ride.

Strawberry River - The snow coverage is good and is totally ridable. The snow has setup now - looks like a good base. A bit of sage poking through in the flats and more as you get east toward the hills - probably some sage traps out there. One more storm in that area should cover those up.

Chicken Creek - I just viewed this from the snowmobile trail east of Strawberry river - It looks to have good coverage - the lake looks frozen with a good layer of snow on it. I was viewing from a long distance, but it looks fully ridable.

From the Utah Fishing Report ( http://www.utah.com/fish/fishbytes.htm ) two days ago: "Updated 12-18-09
Strawberry now has good ice fishing, according to several reports. There is now a cap of ice over the entire reservoir, and the ice should be safe in most areas. However, there may still be soft spots so use caution."
