looking to summer here (i know there is still snow out there). I'm bad with board shape and would appreciate some thoughts on board shape. I'm looking for two boards and would like to get one to meet both requirements. #1- parents bought a boat last summer. wakeboarding is fun and all, but its a lot rougher than kiteboarding when you fall. thus, i took up an interest in wakesurfing. i know about the dangers and all, but its kind of fun to mess around with. we do not have a board for this.
fast forward to my idea- i had been playing around with the idea of a skim board for light wind days to mess around with. obviously its no sleene door or anything, but a flat rocker with a wide surface area would be fun to play with. also, when the wind does get cranking it might be fun to have a wide fishy board to play with in the utah lake swell. my idea was, is there a board out there that i could use on light wind days (read: flat rocker with squared rails?) that i could also wakesurf with? what do you guys know about both of these board shapes? the wakesurf boards i have looked at look relatively flat rocker to keep up with the boat. ideally i could take off the fins or put smaller ones on for kiteboarding.


just a thought... hope to see you kats out there on the water soon! house is finished up, wife is done with school, and nothing left to do but play....

Check out Slingshot's web site. They may have just what you want. They not only make GREAT kitesurfing boards, both twin tip and surf type, but Great wake boards as well, that are very surf oriented. Give em a look.

I'm not the one to know much much about board shape either, but wakesurfed a lot last year. I've got a few boards that I want to try out kiting. Like Jon said Liquid Force makes both. You are welcome to try one of mine out if you'd like. I will let you know how it goes if I can try it out soon enough. I've ssen this written about on kiteforum, but nobody had definite answers. Wakesurf boards are much cheaper.
Also, wakesurfing isn't a problem if you are using the right boat. As long as you have a V-drive or direct drive you are good. I've seen a bunch of riders behind outboards, which has some brutal potential.
