Remembering Rush...

We would like to see some CLASSIC Rush Lake Photos posted up, if you've got any. If they're not digital, scan them, please... There'll be some kind of SUBSTANTIAL Dakine award given out at the Spring meeting for the winning Rush Lake pic from the past... If you have some archive pics of Rush we want to see them... People, loads of cars, gear, sailing, kiting, wildlife (carp), wildlife (spectators), cows, birds (especially baby birds) etc. Please post them to this thread... PS... Post any good Rush Lake pics they don't have to be a winner...

The wikipedia article is very interesting but definitely needs some addition of its recreational info on WINDRIDERS! I will submit the winning photo(s) to wikipedia to see if they'll allow the edit to the Rush Lake article to include its most important job over the last 15,000 years!

I took a few pictures out there but they are on an old hard drive that is boxed up somewhere. I will try and dig them out when I can. I was able to find a couple I had posted on facebook of Mitch that where taken 2 days before his accident.

Rick,
What's the time definition of Classic Rush Photos? Seems like it can be divided into PCDO and PCDO (Pre and Post Carp Die Off) I think that was around 2001-2002. Also windsurf era and Kitesurf eras. I kinda gave up Windsurfing at Rush when it shallowed out and turned green in the Mid 90"s and hit it hard again once kiting came on the line in 2000. There were days in the 80's when we had 50+ Rigs on the water. In fact, I can remember stopping by Rush, with Jim Southwick, and playing there for a day or two, delaying a\our trip to the Gorge. It was that GOOD.

I would like to see some 80's pics. Remember, before the advent of mono-film sails?

I would think Dimitri would have a couple old photos laying around.
Some of the first boards from Logosz(another guy who only kites now) were likely tested at Rush. I think they were called Velocity Customs, made in a storage unit in West Valley. A photo of someone riding one of those would be sweet.

CLASSIC... Anything from yesterday to 1880!

Action from ALL angles! Whatever, as long as it's at Rush Lake... Next time we'll do DEER CRICK... The Gorge... GSL...

However, Craig's first pic sets the bar! ;)) Make your pictures worth something!

This might take some time for you to dig out, scan, and post but we've got time.

That's it huh?

Years of epic sailing and kiting at Rush and this is all we ended up with?!

Although, Craig and Mark, your pics are great... Craig, your first set the bar delightfully high... There will be a number of prizes given in April for pics so please dig through your old photos if possible...

PS... I have some epic video from Brian Kelm of Baja in 90' and 95'... It includes some of the prolific utah sailors with some classic, to say the least, footage... Once I get permission I'll post a trailer. But it's not Rush... If you have old Rush VHS tapes... Let me know, I'll digitally capture them for you... Catch me soon while the VCR is set up with my computer.
