I drove by Gunnison River and saw this!

I believe it is called Elk Creek, near the end of Gunnison River. Very consistent thermal wind in the afternoon and the wind and water quality are much better than Deer Creek! Anyone sailed there before?

Drove by it once on my way to denver. I had no gear with me. It was blowing and looked kiteable to me. I thought it was called something else though.

Todd, the launch site is a lot better than DC and the day I was there, the wind is as smooth as the wind I experienced in east coast. I guess it depends on the direction. Anyway, it is too far from here.

It's called "Blue Mesa Reservoir" sailed there one fourth of July about 10 years ago, with my friend, Connie Weeks. Got blown off with a 3.5. No joke. the rangers tried to make us get off the water because it was gusting 70mph+. I think it must of been a frontal thing. It was fun with nice swell and a nice launch. Snowed later that weekend.

Jason,

I didn't want to do this... I was waiting for somebody else to see the sale, the blue light special if you will... The cheap one left wide open... But I guess I have to take it...

They just didn't want to totally leave out the Kiters! :oo Dooh!

PS... The house is looking good... Drive by it everyday. Interesting design. Perfect area.

Rick-
Thanks!! Come check it out sometime. Windsurfing is not so bad. Sure beats basketball and performing the same yoga maneuver over and over again for ten hours straight while everyone else is up at DC loving life!!! :??

I just drove by there and there is a kiter launch area as well! Funny that only the windsurfing sign has a handcapped placard, One of the locals said it was becuase so many of the windsurfers complained that their needs were not getting met at the launch site, and on some days the young hip active kiters were taking all the parking and the windsurfers had to carry their gear from the road to the launch area. So one of the windsurfers applied to the state for a handicapped placard. Well right away the state reconized windsurfing as a serious handicap, and awarded all the regular windsurfers placards so they could still lug their heavy gear to the luanch without getting hurt, (brittle bones, altshimers, etc...) so the sport would not go extinct....... Thats just what I heard :))) :))) ;))

jason...

I was giving you the in with that one, just waiting for you to pull it out of the holster! ;)) The Yoga sun salutations at Liberty Park were for a fundraiser, so that was worth it... But Yoga does help in the healing and preventitive process... Especially to ward off "Alshimiers", although that sounds like it might be kind of a fun condition to have! May improve your dancing... (loved it bordy) I believe, I may be misinformed on that one! ...

I'll swing by and check out the casa.
