Hey Marty,
If you, or for that matter, anyone else goes up to American Falls Reservoir, would you go to the UWA map and move the marker and add weather info for that site. At the moment, the marker is in the middle of the lake because we don't know a good launch location. Zoom way in and use the "Satellite" map to set the marker for either the launch site or the parking area, whichever is most appropriate.
Thanks in advance.

i updated the location and what info i know. Not sure how accurate the wind warnings are. The weekend i was there (4th of july), there were similar wind warnings, giving 15-25 as the range, and both days it was 10-12. Maybe just a fluke, but thought i'd mention it.

That's good to know.
Maybe the thing to do is not leave town until the meter at the airport is reading good numbers.

Lots of us have only been there a few times,
Info like this may avoid skunks in the future.

A little further info on camping there. There's a campground basically right next to the lauch called willow bay (the whole area is the willow bay recreation area). This area is ideal from a proximity-to-the-lauch perspective, but it's just a flat area with one tent/camper right next to each other, and was jam-packed the weekend i was there. We would have stayed there, but it was completely booked when we were planning a week in advance. We found space at Massacre Rocks state park. this is abou a 6 mile drive west of the lauch. This area was uncrowded, with nice secluded spots placed in a hilly area covered by trees wth the snake river a few hundred yards away. highly recommended if you don't mind a short drive for the kiting.
