Craig's Where to Ride 8/14

UL looks like a good bet for PM Kiting today. Might get lucky with 12m -15m Kites from 2 PM
till dusk. Probably best towards the South end of the lake. WIndsurfers should get some
7.5M planers at Saratoga Spring Park. Sulfur also looks promising for PM 7.5 windsurfing.

Tomorrow might be a Sulfur only day in the 8.5 range.

Saturday might see a return to DC wind.

Craig - tomorrow at Sulfur the wind forecast is for East wind? Maybe even somewhat strong east wind? Do you think this dry front moving through is something that would cause East wind in other places like J-bay, East Canyon, or even Little Dell?

The pressure systems look good for east canyon winds friday, but I just don't have
enough experience to recommend East canyon or Little Dell, maybe Dimetrije will
chime in. My guess, is that J-bay might work. I can say reasonably certainly that
there will be Solid North wind in the Rush valley PM tomorrow, which might spill over
enough to make planable conditions from the North at Grantsville.

Ok, I give up. Where is J-Bay. I know where Willard and Farmington Bays are but not J-Bay, and I can't find it on our maps. Is it at Jordanelle? Is their more than one good launch site at Jordanelle? There is no information on our maps for Jordanelle, even though I've posted a plea for it there. If anyone knows about it, would they go the the UWA maps and post the information there?
Thanks, Rick McClain

J-Bay is Jordanelle

There are a couple of launches there at Jordanelle. 95% of the time people launch from the South ramp that faces the dam. Occaisionally it will blow North and we'll launch from the marina side, about from the east side of the marina parking lot, or maybe it's a road just east of that. Faces east and is a short reach.

Little Dell is still iffy on standard East winds. Need a localized bunch of clouds hanging along the ridge to indicate some good east. Little Dell's been tough since they started opening later. 8 or 8:30 now I think, so you miss some of the earliest on those days. Was up there last week when the east winds came out of nowhere in the valley -- no forecast whatsoever from NOAA, but it was calm at Little Dell. That was before the sun came up so maybe it mixed a little later and blew. Nobody's reporting much from LD anymore. Historically September seems to be the month when you might get a couple days. Nice wildlife watching anytime, though.
