Kenny's Where to Ride 1/23

Winds are out of the west today which favors Skyline and some spots at Strawberry. Skyline appears to still be socked in at 8 AM this morning, but should have some clearing and squalls throughout the afternoon. Visibility could be an issue at times with periods of whiteout possible. Wind should be in the upper teens/low 20's. Strawberry should also give up rides and snow squalls, but you may need your jedi skills to find the best spots. West wind tends to be puffy and light. Sites that are favored on a west wind are Ladders, Cabin sites, and Mud Creek. May have to scout around a bit. Expect wind in the low to mid teens, gusty, and intermittent. Take a big board to either location to enjoy the deep pow and don't go out farther than you wish to hike in knee/waist deep powder. PowMow looks like a whiteout today. Monte may give up some good rides. Augie, please provide me with the lat/long for the point forecast there. Other possibilities today are Evanston/Sulphur Creek with wind in the mid to upper teens. PC may give up some rides, but the wind often is intermittent and gusty when it is out of the west at PC.

Sunday is looking epic at Strawberry and Skyline with clearing NW winds.

Monday looks like a Skyline kind of day. Evanston is also looking good.

Avalanche danger is considerable/extreme in all areas of the backcountry. You would have to be crazy to risk going to the upper elevations on a snowmobile today.
