2/5 Kenny's Where to Ride

Windy day today. Skyline will have howling winds in the mid to upper twenties. Strawberry low to mid-twenties. Wind may back off a bit late in the afternoon. Snow flurries throughout the day may limit visibility at times. Skyline looks socked in right now. Surface conditions at Strawberry are tough. Boilerplate is to be found in 90% of the area with wind-blown pow in the lee areas. Skis are your best bet there and take a small kite as there is little resistance from the surface - good day for speed runs on the lake if it doesn't snow much. I haven't heard a report on Skyline snow conditions in a while, hopefully better than Strawberry. We have several fast moving storms coming through the next 2 days, let's hope it brings enough snow to freshen up Strawberry.

Sunday the wind clocks more west opening up PowMow. Skyline and Strawberry should both be windy as well. Expect upper-teens at PowMow and Skyline and mid-teens at Strawberry at the westerly-favored locations. Oh, and more snow flurries.

Monday the forecast looks about the same as Sunday.

Wind blown piles of drifted snow about every fifty meters made speed runs hard yesterday, Hitting each one is a battle not to go over the bars. There is fresh snopw in heber this morning, I bet at strawbs also. Have fun be safe. Bring your little kites!
