1/27 Kenny's Where to Ride

Summary: a series of storms will be passing over the region bringing wind and much needed snow.

We have a windy day on tap today. At Skyline expect wind in the mid to upper-teens, however snow could be the spoiler there. It is clear now, but it is a guessing game as to whether it socks in or not. PowMow looks like a blizzard. Park City will have wind for the HQ Demo Day. It could turn into a blizzard there as the front is forecast to pass over the area early this afternoon. Same goes for Strawberry. I am not sure if it rained at PC or Strawberry yesterday, but snow levels were only above 7500 feet yesterday, so the surface conditions may be less than prime until the storm today begins dropping snow. If you go to Strawberry, and you don't already know the 411. Strawberry is best at the Marina or Ladders on a SW day and the wind is often intermittent, light, gusty - unreliable is the word, but it can also be a lot of fun and rewarding when it does blow. Sulphur Creek should also be very windy and rideable as well.

Monday is looking good at Skyline and Strawberry. Skyline may be slower to clear, but will have more snow and wind. Expect mid-teens or better and Stawberry should be low to mid-teens. This is a slow moving storm, so residual snow flurries are possible throughout the day and there is the chance that Skyline will be socked in all day.

Tuesday is shaping up to be an absolute howler with very strong NW winds. Strawberry is looking like the best bet with wind in the mid-twenties and much higher gusts. Snow flurries throughout the day will keep visibility low. Skyline looks like a downright blizzard. It might be a better day to ride Rush with wind in the upper-teens or Park City with wind in the low-twenties. Or you could travel out to Sulphur Creek for some screaming ice runs.
