Looks like good wind this afternoon in the 15 mph range at Skyline. The possible spoiler for visibility and wind may be snow squalls. Powder conditions with a few rocks and bushes poking up.

Friday looks good for wind at Skyline with wind all day. Wind will be stronger in the afternoon approaching 20 mph or more, but also more gusty with snow squalls. The morning will be the best time for smooth wind (15 mph range) and good visibility. You may also be able to ride at Park City tomorrow as well.

Saturday is looking promising for wind, but very cold.

the winds to the north look a bit stronger, especially tomorrow, maybe a bit too much. Pow Mow is forecast about 10 mph more than Skyline but with gusts possibly hitting 40mph. It just might be a day to check out Monte. The nearest snotel site says about 19 inches on the ground.

Bottom Line for the Provo, Salt Lake, and Park City area mountains:

The avalanche danger is HIGH on and below mid and upper elevation slopes, especially those facing west through north through east and southeast. Human triggered avalanche are likely on slopes steeper than about 35 degrees, and slides can be triggered remotely from a distance, so avoid travel adjacent to and below steep avalanche paths. As the winds pick up this afternoon and this evening, a natural avalanche cycle could occur again. Only those people with excellent avalanche skills and experience should travel in the backcountry, and travel should be on gentle slopes and ridge lines well away from avalanche paths.
