Love that Utah Powder, but where did it all go??? I guess when it's that windy, sometimes it stays and sometimes it leaves sastrugi. Definition:"Sharp, irregular ridges of snow on a small scale (rarely more than 1 foot, 30cm) that lie parallel to the direction of the wind. Sastrugi can make travel very awkward or difficult."
Got to Co-op Creek at 1PM it was blowing 12 to 18mph. Put up my 10M Naish Foil. Rode for an hour with Mike C, Tom and Jenny. Guess I just missed Eric and Monika. I couldn't find any very soft snow, just a little here and there. Lots of Sastrugi. Steve from Cloud 9 was at Chicken West. They were on 12M Ozones, but the snow didn't look much better.
Drove East to see Chasta, Brian and Marty at the Ladders, Overlook area. Caught Marty's 12M TD in a snow squall. While he wraped up his lines, we saw the wind meters go to 22mph.
I decided to go to Chicken East. Rode my 10M for about a half hour, but guess what....more Sastrugi. Kenny showed up and I said, you better ride your skiis, caue it is rough. How was it Kenny?
Finally at 5PM, I got a pretty smooth snow session on my 14M foil at Bull Springs. Across from Strawberry River. Kited till 6PM. Best session of the day, but pretty flat terrain.
Just about every snowkiter in the Wasatch was there, spread around. Pretty fun day, but wish it was softer. Oh, yeah, saw John M and DC Jim at Strawberry River earlier. Let's hear about your sessions: Brian, Chasta, Eric, Kenny, Marty, Steve, Tom, and any one else.
Cheers

Whit it was good at Chicken Creek East. The wind smoothed out and I had a nice session on my 12M Frenzy. Rode back forth between CC East and CC West. Found some fluff in a few lee areas. The last time I was at CC East there was still brush sticking up. It was nice to have it all covered, I can't believe how much terrain is open for riding around Strawberry. Truly a snowkiter paradise!
