jake and the best waroo crew were hitting it at the state park for 4 hours when i showed up the wind was 10-20 up and down but the water was nice and jake said the swell was huge just out side the jettie great time jake and the guy were hitting some nice kite loops and jumps there was 5 kites up for the most part and seemed to be plenty of room could have as much as 6 or 7 kites it would be sweet to have some boarder cross action in the marina set up some gates and jumps ....

Utah Lake State Park - Tuesday May 2

Postby Spencer R » Thu May 04, 2006 10:43 pm

Tuesday - May 2 - ULSP - 12M Waroo, 132cm Best Balsa

I've been pretty lazy in posting, but since Jared already started this one: Jake and I arrived at 2:45 at Utah Lake State Park. The swell on the main jetty was already starting to pound over the road, and the new jetty was inaccesible since I was here last year, as more rock was loaded to stop the erosion. We drove to the point of the old jetty and decided to launch from there. Winds were hitting probably 12-15mph I launched Jake from this point, kinda sketchy and only doeable on the north north west wind that we had. Jake was out on the water by 3 on his 16m waroo? or was it a 15? anyway, then i setup to launch and grabbed a passer by to launch me, which almost launched her off the end of the pier; no she was fine. We rode inside the break water for about an hour. I ended up downwind and walked back upwind on the jetty road and launched off the little pier to the north. Jake made his way out of the harbor. We played in the big swell on the north side for about an hour. Winds went to 15-20mph. The water is pretty deep out there now and swell was hitting 3'-4'+ at times. We were boosting off for some of the spectators on the jetty. Stokes and Chris (i think that's his name?) showed up at about 5 i think . Stokes launched Chris of the jetty. I came in and launched stokes, not as easy as i thought while flying my 12 on a tight schetchy launch. The winds were really pretty steady. They both rode on 16m? waroos. We all rode the harbor another couple hours. It was fun in the flat water, with a downed kite ever half dozen passes, because everyone was throwing down. Well mostly Jake trying new stuff, but I saw some kiteloops by Chris that were pulled off and Stokes took some punishment on his. Jared showed up at 7 i think and we had 5 of us riding with plenty of spectators. 4-1/2 hours of straight riding was enough for my fix. The Waroo really preformed well. It was a solid session. My legs still ache 2 days later. It was a good sess!

- cheers spencer -- cya out there!
