But with new Instinct kites to try,,,
Some one had to do it....
I rigged the 9M, just to check it out.
The build quality is the best I've seen on a bladder kite.
The bar is simple, and clean, with no pulleys.
Light north winds allowed me to get the kite in the air,
just to check it out, for a little while,
but not enough to get on the water.
Then the storm wind from the south came in.
Lucky enough, there was enough for the 9M to get a few rides back & forth, and stay up wind.
Doug rigged his 17m, Kenny rigged his 16M, and Brian, 11M Instinct.
but by the time they got to the water,
it was pretty much,, done.
Not enough rides for a good review of the flying characteristics of the kite yet,
just a report.
It has amazing low end to get me going and keep upwind,
in that light of wind (less than 20mph, on a 9M!!)
At the end, the wind died and I tested the "safety"
Just let go of the bar, the kite totally depowers,
and softly heads to the water,
(the greatest feature of the new bow/fat kites)
Then I worked it into a position that my other bow kite would invert.
I got it into that position 3 times,
The Instinct WILL NOT INVERT,
with the lines the way they are, IT'S IMPOSSIBLE!
I wish it had a one pump, I really like that feature.
The bladders have flaps, not balls,
I'm not sure they will seal them selves in cold weather,
Jon's North's are similar, and don't self seal well.
but just minor nit picking things.
One pumps are not for all kites,
Ozone recommends 8psi in the struts
5.5 in the main bladder,
kinda hard to do with one-pump.
