Haven't seen any sharks, Rick. Not looking, don't wanna know, ya know?
Anyway, Mokuleia is almost the last beach on the road to Kaena Point on the North Shore, west of Haleiwa, the well-known North Shore beach town. Mokuleia Beach Park is the kine spot, nice break that holds shape up to 8-10 feet (so I'm told, never been here in the winter/spring when it's that big). Anyway, wind is always strongest here compared to almost everywhere else on the island, due to the large cliffs just behind the beach, that squeeze the NE trades up about 5-8 knots or more. Today I was on a 5.7 and Kailua was 5 kts, for example. Great channel to get out past the break, uncrowded conditions, usually a half dozen or so teabaggers and 1 or 2 sailors. Great spot to learn wave sailing and I think an excellent spot to kite sail. We stay nearby where there are condos for rent. Nice and quiet compared to the rest of Oahu, yet only 45 minutes into Town (Honolulu). I think ya'd love it.
