6/19, Lindon and SSB double header

Postby Leo Chan » Wed Jun 19, 2013 10:11 pm

Well, I used every kite in my possession today! Started with 12 meter SW flow in Lindon from 11:30 to about 1, when it switched to WNW. I headed down to SSB and found 12 meter condition from the west. Tyler and I had the place to ourselves. The wind was good for about an hour and then it got weird. I got tea-bagged when the wind switched. We decided to keep it safe. Chris and Mark showed up when the wind sort of died down.

But by 5 p.m. Holy molly! I've never seen wind this strong at a beach in Utah before without any casualties. But this time, we all had fun in the smallest gear we could find. Tyler, Chris, Mark, Jake, Chase, John, Jason, Dave, Andy, Billy, Lisa and friends, and a few others all had their butt kicked, in a very good way! I think John Guay was out the longest. Chris had a few superman jumps that were just insane. I now see the magic of SSB! This is probably my best day of kiting on water in Utah so far. Let's hope for more to come!

My double header went 10m at DC and thanks to Jake for the 7m RRD session at SSB. However realized once at home that I left my best spark twintip down at SSB. If anyone happened to pick it up, please let me know.

This is a short clip from earlier that day. At about 1:20 mark, the wind was so light and variable. Then I got tea bagged 20 seconds later. Funny now. But it was a bit scary then. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=95c_1371 ... P4GquzO.01
