Grey, gloomy, chilly day with occasional sprinkles and hints of wind beginning about noon. Hard to get too excited about the prospects, but about 2 I finally decided I'd better head down to the lake to have a look. One kiter in the process of launching as I drove past Atlantis Beach. By the time I got to IB, what wind there was was fading fast, but there did appear to be a few small caps far to windward, so I rigged my 8.5 and hoped for the best. And sure enough, by the time I reached the water, another impulse arrived and I was planing. The kiter (blue 12M Naish Ride/surfboard) who was launching as I passed AB soon came up to join (and smoke) me. By 3:30 the wind was dying fast and I was headed for the beach when another impulse appeared in the distance. One more ride out and a screaming reach back in as the biggest gusts of the day arrived - way too much for what I had rigged. Considering the forecast, not a bad session.
