Windy days on DC are unusual this time of year, but we got one today beginning a little after 12:30. In fairness to the National Weather Service, they did forecast SW wind for this afternoon but, as usual, the actual wind speed considerable exceeded their prediction. Mostly sunny up here with air and water temps of about 50 and 45 respectively.

This is truly a great state. I skied today and you windsurfed. I received an "Emperor Penguin" award back when we were doing such things and I would guess you did too but you get my vote as the King of the "Emperor Penguins".

Duane, I certainly agree about the state we live in! Where else (besides Hood River perhaps) is it possible to ski one day and sail the next, or possibly do both the same day :))) I am, indeed, the proud owner of a UWA "Emperor Penguin" certificate from Grant and Dimitri. However, I must respectfully disagree about my being the king of the Emperor Penguins. Surely that title rightfully belongs to Kenny Farnsworth in recognition of his mid-winter salt pond exploits. Thanks to the availability of really good drysuits and neoprene mittens, being a penguin (i.e. starting the season early and ending it late) is a lot easier than it used to be.
