NWS forecast was pretty discouraging, but by noon there was wind out of the SW gusting to about 15. Filled in nicely as I was rigging, and provided over 2 hours of big-gear planing. The water level is gradually coming up (about a foot per week according to Ranger Bullock) so there's now a lot less vegetation to wade through on the way out. The North end of the reservoir is ice free down to the island - looks as though BWB would be usable, not sure about IB. Water temp measured about 46F. Lots of bird life and no motorboats.

My guess was it would be at Grantsville by John or Ken but you aced them out. Damn that water sounds cold! I won't be joining you for at least a month or more. You da man!!! Duane

Duane, fortunately my drysuit is doing its job, so the water temp really isn't much of a problem (although I must admit that I'm trying REALLY hard not to fall very often). And the air temp was high enough (about 50) that I was able to get by without gloves.

Didn't sail today, but I did check out IB - there's still a thin sheet of ice in the "bay" but it shouldn't last long.
