When I 1st clicked on the Provo wind readings my jaw dropped at the 28mph; definitely way more than any of the forecasters were predicting. I left home figuring it would die before I got there. But I lucked off when I hit the water at 11:15 with my wind meter reading steady wind lines anywhere from 17 to 38. Rigged a 4.7 based on the 24mph Provo reading and was totally lit. A 4.2 would have been the call for the peak winds. The 86L iSonic was a little high strung for the rough water (the usual well-formed waves never showed up). I would have loved my 76L but I deliberately left it home as it was too cold to be sailing that much of a sinker. Although I hit some dead spots the huge majority of the time it was wall to wall screaming reaches. The air and the water were both pretty cold but the hot wind speeds made up for it. Mike showed up and tried his 4.8 but it was backing off. We rigged 5.7’s a little before 2:00 but the wind was dying fast and we bagged it. UL is the only place I sail where I can strip the suit down in a heated bathroom; nice!

Sailing both the Gorge and Utah on my 8'2" HiTech and my 3 Starboards; Sonic 85L, S-Type 115L, and Carve 135L. Small quiver is Northwave, larger sails are Ezzy and Sailworks. Often in my white Odyssey but also in my wife's motor home.
